It is with deep sadness that we announce that Violet Mae Thompson age 84, passed away at Morristown Hamblen Hospital after an extended illness. She was surrounded by her loving family as she went home to be with the Lord. Violet was a Christian and member of Talbott Baptist Church. She was a loving Godly mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Harold G. Thompson and son Jeffrey L. Thompson. She is survived by daughters: Sharon (Jim), Vicki (Bart) Russell, Aundria (Levi) Caldwell, Annette (Joe) Pressley. Sons: Michael (Debbie) Thompson, Steven (Donna) Thompson and Greg Thompson. Grandchildren: Crystal, Michael, Melissa, Steven, Paige, Heather. Valerie, Anthony, Taylor, Jordan, David, Dan, Brittany, Mark, Meagan, Nicholas, Ethan, Lauren, Layla, Jeffrey and Chris. Numerous great grandchildren and special brother: Roger (Linda) Counts and Robert (Sue) Counts, several nieces and nephews.
Violet was a devoted mother to her children and a hard-working employee for Sample Makers Inc. where she worked full time until her retirement at the age of 77. She has always had the philosophy that hard honest work and depending upon the Lord will produce a well lived life. She loved being around her children and family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Family will receive friends at Mayes Mortuary on Tues. Jan. 5, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wed. Jan. 6, 2021 at Mayes Mortuary. She will be laid to rest beside her husband and son in the Hamblen Memory Gardens. The services will be brought by her brother, Pastor Roger Counts of Virginia, at her request.
We would like to thank each of her care givers and physicians for the care that has been given to her and a special thank you to Dr. David Wood and Amanda Barnes NP for the years of care provided to her as well as Lucinda Hicks APN and her nurse Samantha (Sam).
