Mary H. Hodge 65, was born on January 7, 1956 and died peacefully on February 16,2021 after several years of struggling with many health issues. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Carson-Newman with a degree in History (Political Science). After graduation, she worked with her mom at the Register of Deeds office. She later became a substitute teacher in the Hamblen County Schools and at All-Saints Episcopal School. She excelled in art-drawing and painting, loved music, and was an avid reader. She especially loved to collect books. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Morristown.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Mary Harrison Hodge and her sisters, Nancy McGuire and Ruthelen Hodge.
She is survived by her sister, Susan Greene, and brother-in-law Louis (Karen) McGuire, nieces and nephews-Jason (Karen) Greene, Jeremy (Brooke) Greene, Bethany (J Collins) McGuire, Julie (Matthew) McIlwain, and Rachael (Brandon) Meek, and great nieces and nephews-Kara, Maddox and Jordyn Greene, Emmerson Meek, Aubrey and Ethan Greene, Ozlo Collins, Ailish and Emelia Mcllwain, and many cousins with their extended families.
Friends may call at their convenience on Friday, February 19, from 1pm-5pm at Mayes Mortuary.
Family and friends will gather at 10:45 Saturday February 20, in Jarnagin Cemetery for 11:00 graveside service with Rev. Danny Georges officiating.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the Music Dept. of First Baptist Church Morristown or Morristown-Hamblen Public Library for the purchase of books.
