Dr. Marc E. McClure, 54 , of Morristown passed away Wednesday evening, December 30th. Marc was born in Oklahoma City, OK, but lived in several areas in the United States and abroad.
He moved to Morristown in 2010 and was a Full Professor of History at Walters State Community College. Marc was a graduate of George Washington University. He was passionate about his academic pursuits and historical studies of military events in France and he has been working on a documentary film called the “Sword of Freedom” with a friend and colleague in France.
Marc was the 2018 recipient of the WSCC Annual Faculty Service Award and received the Research Excellence Award for work on the WWI Kiffin Rockwell from the East TN Historical Society. Marc also received an MLK Community Award from the Morristown Task Force for Diversity in 2019.
He loved to travel and experience life in the moment. Marc was a loving husband and father, son, brother, and uncle. He cared deeply for, and was dearly loved by, all of his extended family and friends. Marc is survived by his wife, Jessica; daughters, Elaina McClure, Erica McClure, and Haleigh Raye Winstead; mother, Kaye Young; father, Ric (Debbie) McClure; brother, Brad ( Leichelle) McClure; niece, Emily McClure; nephew, Mitchell McClure; special friend, Dustin Santos; and numerous friends.
Due to Covid restrictions, friends may pay their respects at Mayes Mortuary, Monday January 4th from 10am-6pm at their convenience. Graveside service will be 1:00 Tuesday at Jarnagin Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers include Brad McClure, Mitchell McClure, Ric McClure, Judge Dennis Inman, Darrel McGhee, Doug Scott, Rob Thomas, and Gary Brooks.
