Lewis Franklin Adkisson, age 84 of Thornhill, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020, at his residence. He was a retired field biologist for the TVA, and an influential member of the Wild Turkey Federation.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin William and Dorothy Jett Adkisson; his former wife and mother of his children Jackie Adkisson; and a sister Geraldine Gallagher.
He is survived by his children Matthew (Athena) Adkisson, Adam (Misty) Adkisson, Alicia (Tony) Gloyd, and Kimberly Greene (Chad Green); grandchildren Tara Cline, Morgan Hankins, Emily Adkisson, Caitlin Adkisson, and Logan Adkisson; great-grandchild Sydney Arnold; brother Arvine (Carolyn) Adkisson; sister Phyllis (Jack) Vickery, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Mayes Mortuary with funeral services to follow. To follow Hamblen County Covid-19 protocol, we do ask that while visiting the funeral home, please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville.
