Michael D. Murrell

May 29, 1972 - May 17, 2020

Michael Demond Murrell, age 47, of Morristown, TN passed away suddenly Sunday, May 17th, 2020.  He was born May 29th, 1972 in Bowling Green, KY, graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1990 & from the National Fire Academy in 1998.  Michael worked for the Jackson Mississippi Fire Department, where he spent 4 years serving the community as a highly respected Fireman & EMT.  He spent the next 15 years working in the Funeral Industry with his father-in-law.  In 2005 he proudly volunteered to be a part of the Hurricane Katrina Recovery Team. Michael enjoyed life to the fullest, spending time with his family & friends, & watching his Kentucky Wildcats.  He always had a big smile on his face to brighten the lives of others & never met a stranger. To his friends in Kentucky he was known as "Relly", many of his Morristown friends referred to him as "Money Mike" & to his Touring buddies "Nationwide"! Loved & missed by all that knew him, but NEVER forgotten. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; James Murrell, Howard & Ora Martin, & Sue Mayes, Mother; Berenda Martin, Mother-in-law; Donna Mayes, Sister; Muriel "Punkin" Murrell, Brother; Bo Parker & Grandson; Dye'son Murrell. Michael is survived by his Wife; Terri Mayes, Children; Dyericus (Natika) Murrell, Makiah Murrell & Michael "Mike Mike" Demond Murrell II, Dad; Jimmy Martin, Father-in-law; Buddy Mayes, Sisters; Rena & Sequoia Martin, Marquita (Kurt) Navarro, Daria Parker, & Tracy (Shawn) Summers, Brothers; Monte, Courtney & Jeffery Parker & Tyler (Erin) Mayes, Grandmother; Beulah Murrell, Nieces; Yakeshia Murrell, Rondazia Owens, Janay & Jayla Bell, Mya & Faythe Summers & Kali Mayes, Nephews; Aaron Goodin, Jacorey & Jayden Martin, & Kayson Mayes, several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins & way too many friends to mention. Due to the Corona Virus and to comply with social distancing, the family will receive friends, Tuesday, May 26, 2020 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM, outside at Mayes Mortuary.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 6:00 PM.
