Howard Brady

Brady, Howard Hamilton, age 94, passed away on April 18, 2009. He was the son of James Frank Brady and Mary Alice (Ridley) Brady. Mr. Brady was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years of marriage, Ruth (Shockley) Brady, his brothers Orville, Jack, Earl, Clifton, Sherman, and his sisters, Hattie Gray, Maybelle Brady and Ivalee (Brady) Shropshire. He is survived by his only son, Wayne Howard Brady of Morristown, TN, and his granddaughter Trisha (Brady) Kelly and husband Sean Kelly of Wilkes Barre, PA, and great-granddaughter Gwyneth Ann Kelly and his granddaughter Robin (Brady) Swaneck and husband Edward H. Swaneck, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews survive Mr. Brady too. Mr. Brady was born in Ivy Hollow in Hamblen County and was saved on November 19, 1929 at the age of 15 and was baptized November 29, 1929 in the Holston River near Kidwell's Ridge Baptist Church where he attended at the time. Mr. Brady in his younger life played gospel-bluegrass music all over East TN and on WNOX Mayfair Mery-Go-Round with a band made up of Willard Broyles, Fred Inman, Bill and Howard Long, and Mr. Brady who played the Mandolin. Mr. Brady was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in the Lowland Community for over 55 years and was retired from American Enka where he worked for 24 years. As a dad and grandfather he will be truly missed for the example he set as a Christian and he was always a loving, gentle, kind, and hardworking dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Services for Mr. Brady will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. James Williams and Rev. Kester Greene officiating. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the church.
