Doris J. Bumgarner

December 30, 1935 - January 3, 2020

Doris Jean Bumgarner, 84 of Whitesburg, Tennessee, formally of Logan County, West Virginia died and received her crown of glory on January 3, 2020 in her home in Tennessee after a long battle with cancer.  Doris was born on December 30th, 1935 at Holden, West Virginia to Cecil and Goldie (Thornsberry) Stafford.  She was a graduate of Logan High School and lived most of her life in Curry Hollow at 7&8 Holden and Guyane Terrace in Logan.  She married her husband of 62 years, Charles Raymond Bumgarner, on October 28, 1955 and spent her adult life as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and homemaker.  Doris was a member of the Baptist faith from an early age and remained active in the life of the Church throughout her adult life until the frailty of aging and illness limited her ability to do so any longer.  Doris is survived by three children, Charles (Sharon) Raymond Bumgarner, Jr., David Bumgarner and Jimmy Joe (Shari) Bumgarner; six grandchildren, Aimee (Kevin) Ott, Andy (Jennifer) Scott, Michael Bumgarner, Staci (Jared) Brewer, Holli (Dustin) Spry, and Chad Bumgarner; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters, Elaine (David) Alexander and Peggy (Bill) Casey.  Preceding her in death are her beloved husband Charles Raymond Bumgarner; her parents, Cecil and Goldie Stafford; siblings, Kanawah (Carol) Holbrook, Myrtle (Ed) Milligan, Betty (Jim) Stafford, Mavis (Ab) Thompson and Darlene Stafford.  Services will consist of a private viewing for immediate family followed by a funeral service for family and relatives at the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Pecks Mill, WV on January 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rocky Chafin presiding.  Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
