Clyde Lee Mefford

November 30, 1925 ~ April 19, 2018 (age 92)
Clyde Lee Mefford, born Nov. 30, 1925, Morristown, TN. Clyde went to be with his Savoir on April 19, 2018. He passed after a brief illness at Regency Retirement Village.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Gladys Ellis Mefford, his beloved wife of 60 years. His parents: Elbert and Ada Mefford; brothers: Hansel, Edward and Clarence.
He leaves his sons: Ron (Clara) and Larry (Elizabeth) Mefford; granddaughters: Laura (Brian) Edmondson, Jennifer Murray, Alicia (Jeremy) Hileman and great grandchildren. Jillian and Nathaniel, and several nieces and nephews.
Clyde was proud to have served his country during WWII. He was an Army paratrooper and served in Europe. He earned his pilot's license after returning home from the military. He was a man who loved his family, he and Gladys attended Watkins Chapel Methodist Church and he was a retiree of Jeffrey Chain after 20 plus years of service.
Family will receive friends Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mayes Mortuary with funeral services to follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Fred Lehrer officiating.
Military graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
The family would like to thank all his friends and care givers at Regency for their love and dedication in caring for our father the last two years of his life. He really loved and appreciated all of you.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
