C. L. Jones

January 12, 1928 - February 17, 2020

Dr. Cabel Louis "Bud" Jones, 92, born in Memphis, TN on Jan. 12, 1928, passed away  Monday, February 17, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents: Cabel Louis Jones, Sr. and Martha Margret McCool; sister: Peggy Manning, infant twin sons, grandson: Jonathon Jones and step mother: Cornelia Walker Jones. Bud leaves his wife: Sara Ruth (Bruce) Jones of 63 years; son:  Dr. Cabel Louis "Buddy" (June Ann) Jones, III; daughter: Caroline (Gen. Arnold, Jr.) Bunch of Wright-Patterson  AFB, OH.  Grandson: Dr. Bruce (Tessa) Jones, Savannah, GA; granddaughter: Lauren (Clint) Strange, Mt. Juliet, TN; grandson: Arnold W. (Megan) Bunch, III, Amarillo, TX; grandson: Louis T. (Elizabeth) Bunch, Murfreesboro, TN.  Great granddaughter: Emerson Jones, great grandson: Merritt Jones, great granddaughter: Emmaline Bunch. Sister: Darlene Pharr, Ridgecrest, CA.  Many nieces, nephews, cousins in VA, OK, GA, TN and CA.  Special friend: Donna Carpenter. A special thank you goes to the Serenity House. Bud felt blessed in so many ways by his parents, sisters, grandparents, aunts, and uncles, many doctors and friends in overcoming residual effects of polio at 8 months old.  He was educated in public schools in Paris, TN and graduated from the University of TN College of Pharmacy in 1950. After graduation, he started working in Clarksville, TN, then moving to Morristown on the last day on 1955.  He worked at Willoughby and Freels and Crescent Center.  With the help of a very good friend and pharmacist, Eldrid Bauch, bought Crescent Center Drugs and then later purchased  Morristown Pharmacy. Soon after arriving in Morristown, he joined the First United Methodist Church where he served his church on many committees and teaching youth and adult classes over the years. Bud was a member of the City School Board, served on the County Commission for 24 years and 35 years with the Youth Emergency Shelter.  He was also active with the Lakeway Achievement Center, Senior Citizens Home Assistance, City Cemetery Restoration Board, KAB Morristown, longtime member of Noon Rotary Club and the East TN Regional Health Council. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at First United Methodist Church Morristown.  A celebration of life service will follow at 3:00 with Rev. Walter Weikel and Rev. Darris Doyal officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Building Fund at FUMC, MATS or the Serenity House.
