Harold “RAWHIDE” Rouse, born April 25, 1932, passed May 18, 2019 peacefully on his beloved farm surrounded by family. First and foremost, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a life long resident and farmer on the Witt Community. He was a life long active member of Witt Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty nine years, Sivalene C. Rouse. He is survived by his devoted twin daughters: Marina Dawson and Katrina Bloomquist. Granddaughter, Ariel Bloomquist, sons-in-law: Gary Dawson and Scott Bloomquist; and many extended family members.
He honorably served in the US Air Force for four years on active duty. He worked eight years for Mitchell-Hodge Electric and retired from American Enka/BASF after thirty years as an electrician. In addition to being a full time farmer, Rawhide served as chaplain for the South Hamblen County Fire Department, was a member of the Hamblen County School Board, and member of lodge 231 Masonic Order and the Kerbela Temple Shriners.
Rawhide will always be remembered as a loyal and faithful husband, loving father, grandfather and for his service to his friends and community. The family thanks the numerous friends and church members for their love and support with special thanks to Jennifer Cansler, Linda Jarnigan and the University of Tennessee Home Health and Hospice staff.
Receiving of friends will be Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Witt Baptist Church with funeral services to follow, with Rev. Doug Brown officiating. Family and friends will gather at Witt Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM to proceed to Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside and interment services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Witt Baptist Cemetery Fund.
